about

Let the Mystery Be [Iris Dement]
Pie in the Sky [Joe Hill]
‘Pie in the Sky’, also known as ‘The Preacher and the Slave’, was written in 1911 by Swedish-born Industrial
Workers of the World visionary Joe Hill and is one of several parodies of Salvation Army hymns from that time. We think Iris Dement’s slightly more clement musings on spirituality make an interesting sister song to it.
